Ashish Masih President and CEO
Show Bio

Ashish Masih is Encore Capital Group’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Masih joined the company in 2009 and was appointed President and CEO in June, 2017. Previously, as President of Midland, Mr. Masih was responsible for internal call centers, decision science and, legal collections, marketing, and all other domestic operations. He also oversaw Encore’s Asset Reconstruction Company, which is now operational and is purchasing debt portfolios in India. Prior to this at Encore, he served in three roles over time: Executive Vice President, U. S. Debt Purchasing Operations, Senior Vice President of legal collections operations, and Senior Vice President of corporate development. Prior to joining Encore, Mr. Masih was Vice President at Capital One Financial Corp., where he held senior roles in collections and recoveries among other roles. Prior to joining Capital One, Mr. Masih was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company and a Manager at KPMG Consulting.

Mr. Masih earned an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Lehigh University and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India.
Ryan Bell Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Midland

Ryan Bell has fifteen years of financial services experience in analytical and operational roles. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Midland, Mr. Bell oversees Encore’s global operations that support the U.S. purchasing line of business.  This includes all Call Centers, Legal Collections, Decision Science, and Marketing teams.  In this role he is responsible for the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational effectiveness of all domestic channels. Previously as Senior Vice President of Operations, Mr. Bell led Encore’s Internal Legal, Legal Outsourcing, and Bankruptcy Operations. Mr. Bell also led Encore’s Decision Science group which is responsible for asset valuation, predictive model development, and financial forecasting.  Mr. Bell joined Encore in 2011 as Vice President of Legal Outsourcing.

Before joining Encore, Mr. Bell spent eleven years in marketing and analysis at Capital One Financial Corp. primarily in the auto finance line of business. His experience at Capital One included marketing strategy, credit policy, new product development, business development, and operations strategy. Mr. Bell earned an MBA (graduating Beta Gamma Sigma) from The Cox School Business at Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (graduating cum laude) from Texas A&M University.
Greg Call Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Administrative Officer

Greg Call has served as our Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary since September 2011. In August 2017, he was named EVP, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer. In this expanded role, he has overseen the company’s legal department, enterprise risk management, compliance, internal audit, and legal team supporting the internal legal collections channel. Additionally, Human Resources and Corporate and Government affairs also report to him. Mr. Call joined the Company in January 2010, serving as Vice President, Legal and Business Affairs.

From 1999 until 2008, Mr. Call served in-house at Gateway, Inc., the computer maker and holder of one of America’s strongest consumer brands, where he ultimately led the company's law department as Vice President, General Counsel. From 2009 until joining the Company, Mr. Call was a shareholder of New Hope Legal Center, Inc. From 1994 until 1999, Mr. Call was an attorney at the law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCoy LLP, a leading international law firm, where his practice focused on complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Mr. Call received his bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University in 1991 and his JD, with honors, from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1994.
Jonathan Clark Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Jonathan Clark is Encore’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Mr. Clark is responsible for managing relationships with the investment community, leading capital raising efforts, and for financial reporting, treasury, and risk management functions. He joined Encore’s subsidiary Midland Credit Management as CFO in October, 2014.

Before joining Encore Capital Group, Clark was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of SLM Corp., also known as Sallie Mae. During his time at Sallie Mae from 2008 until 2013, Clark increased investor value, reestablished the organization as a major player in the securitization market, and guided the company during the global financial crisis. Prior to joining Sallie Mae, Clark served as a Managing Director at Credit Suisse Securities from 2000 to 2007, after having served in various executive roles at Prudential Securities, The First Boston Corp., and a variety of other companies during his career. Clark earned an economics degree from the University of Virginia, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School.
Paul Grinberg President, International

Paul Grinberg joined Encore Capital Group in 2004 and currently serves as President, International where he oversees all international strategies and holdings -- an expansion to his previous role as Group Executive, International and Corporate Development which saw him manage Encore’s European and Latin American operations along with corporate development responsibilities. Mr. Grinberg also serves as Chairman of the Board and the Compensation Committee at BofI Holding, Inc., and holds the same positions at its wholly owned subsidiary, Bank of Internet USA, an FDIC insured branchless bank. Previously, Mr. Grinberg served as Encore’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. During one of the most challenging times in the worldwide credit markets, Mr. Grinberg successfully raised more than $375 million in debt financing for Encore, at favorable terms, enabling us to take advantage of very strong purchasing opportunities. Moreover, Mr. Grinberg significantly enhanced our presence in the investment community, reflected in new sell-side analyst coverage with strong ratings.

Prior to joining Encore, Mr. Grinberg served as President of Brio Consulting Group, a company he founded that provided financial strategy and consulting services to private equity and venture-backed companies. Before that, Mr. Grinberg served as Chief Financial Officer of Stellcom, Inc., a systems integration firm focused on providing mobile and wireless engineering solutions to Fortune 1000 companies, and as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of TeleSpectrum Worldwide, Inc., a publicly traded company that provided outsourced call center solutions to Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Grinberg began his career at Deloitte & Touche LLP, ultimately becoming a partner in the firm’s Merger and Acquisition Services Group. Mr. Grinberg is currently a director of Bank of Internet USA (NASDAQ: BOFI), a FDIC insured, internet-only bank. Mr. Grinberg earned a MBA (graduating Beta Gamma Sigma) from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting (graduating magna cum laude) from Yeshiva University.
Amy Anuk Senior Vice President, Business Development

Amy Anuk has 14 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, and currently serves as Senior Vice President of Business Development at Encore Capital Group. In this role, she oversees the acquisition of consumer debt portfolios, manages the company’s partnerships with major financial institutions, and leads one of the industry’s most accomplished Business Development teams. Under her direction, Encore has invested nearly $5 billion for Encore’s U.S. debt purchasing business. She has been instrumental in strengthening the company’s reputation and reach throughout the financial services sector.

In 2012, Ms. Anuk was a member of The Debt Buyer’s Association’s inaugural task force responsible for the creation and launch of the industry’s first debt buyer certification program. In 2013, she chaired the Standards Committee on the Certification Council responsible for the creation of uniform compliance standards across the industry, and was then elected to Chair the Certification Council. Ms. Anuk was then re-elected as Chair of the Council for two consecutive years. In 2016, she was then elected to The Debt Buyer’s Association’s Board of Directors for which she currently serves. Ms. Anuk championed the development of Encore’s women’s leadership initiative, and in 2013 launched Women@Encore including its inaugural Women’s Leadership Development Program. She currently serves as Chair of Women@Encore. Ms. Anuk holds an MBA, with a specialization in Finance, from San Diego State University.

Carl Eberling Senior Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

Carl Eberling joined Encore Capital Group in June 2012 as Senior Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. Prior to joining Encore, Mr. Eberling served as GM and Chief Technology Officer at Quest Software, where he led the technological alignment of the entire Quest Software portfolio. Previously, he held executive and CIO positions with Kaiser Permanente and Verizon Wireless. An experienced technology leader, Mr. Eberling has spearheaded strategic technology acquisitions and solutions development, and possesses expertise in data security and performance management.

Mr. Eberling holds a B.S. from San Francisco State University and has done Telecommunications Engineering coursework at the University of California at Berkeley and Information Systems Design coursework at Golden State University. A former U.S. Marine Sergeant, Mr. Eberling has lived and worked in Burma, Korea, and Japan.
Darin Herring Senior Vice President, Operations - Americas

Darin Herring has 30 years of experience in the Financial Services industry in operations, finance and business transformation roles. As Senior Vice President, Operations – Americas, he oversees Encore’s Call Center, Legal Collections and Bankruptcy operations in the U.S. and Costa Rica.

Mr. Herring joined Asset Acceptance in 2008 as Vice President, Legal Collections and Business Transformation and later joined Encore in 2013 through Encore’s acquisition of Asset Acceptance. Before joining Asset Acceptance, Mr. Herring worked at American Express for twenty years where he held a variety of leadership roles in Finance, Global Reengineering and Corporate Services. Mr. Herring earned MBAs from both Columbia University and University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Arizona State University.
Kaushik Kundu Senior Vice President, Strategy and Analytics, and Chief Analytics Officer

Kaushik Kundu has seventeen years of financial services experience in operations and analytics leadership roles. As Chief Analytics Officer for US Collection Business, Mr. Kundu oversees strategy, analytics, and decision science functions for US operations. In addition, he oversees Digital strategies, consumer segmentation and treatment strategies and external agencies and law firms operations. In his current role he is responsible for setting the operations strategy and shaping the technology and business processes to implement the strategies.

Mr. Kundu joined Encore in 2009 and led the Call Center Operations and Strategy and Analytics functions prior to his current role. Before joining Encore, Mr. Kundu spent eight years in marketing and analysis at Capital One Financial Corp. primarily in the Credit Card business. His experience at Capital One included credit policy, valuation modeling, customer management, balance build program and online analytics. Mr. Kundu earned an MBA from Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore, India) and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University (Kolkata, India). He is a CFA charter holder from CFA Institute.
Jaison Thomas Senior Vice President, India Operations and Managing Director of MCM India

Jaison Thomas leads Encore India and is responsible for global service delivery out of India. A firm believer of inclusion, he’s built an organization-wide culture that focuses on business, people and the community. In his decade at Encore, he has successfully led a large scale diversified operation and, brought in sharper focus on cost to collect and holistic development of talent within the company. Under his leadership, Encore India has grown and contributed significantly to the success of the organization. He has been pivotal in developing strategy focused on business growth and service lines across the Call Centre, Internal Legal and International Business including Cabot and Baycorp. He even spent two years at Baycorp as an advisor lending sharper focus to core operations.

Mr. Thomas’ customer-centric approach has ensured that over the years, his teams have learned to focus on customer delight not just as a risk mitigation strategy, but in fact as a way of doing business to create maximum impact. Yet, another feather in his cap has been to create a culture where decision making is a direct result of strong analytics, process power and people possibilities. In the past, Mr. Thomas has worked with organizations as diverse as Aegis BPO, GE Capital International Services, IBM Daksh, Global Vantedge and United Airlines – bulk of his experience has been in the collections domain. He is a Commerce graduate from the University of Delhi, India.
Sheryl Wright Senior Vice President, Corporate and Government Affairs

Sheryl Wright joined the company in August 2012 as the Senior Vice President of External Affairs.  In this role, she leads the company's government and public affairs efforts.  Specifically, she manages federal and state legislative and regulatory matters, corporate communications, community outreach/social responsibility, and Encore’s Political Action Committee (PAC). Additionally, she engages with key stakeholders to ensure that the needs of our consumers are met.

Ms. Wright joined Encore from Bridgepoint Education, where she served as Senior Vice President, External Affairs for 3 1/2 years.  Prior to Bridgepoint, she had a 25 year career with Sprint Nextel, most recently serving as Vice President of Government Affairs.  Ms. Wright serves on numerous public policy and community boards, including San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce-Public Policy Committee, San Diego Taxpayers Association, and the Public Affairs Council, Washington DC. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Southwestern College (Kansas) and an MBA from Kansas State University.
John Yung Senior Vice President, Strategy

John Yung joined Encore as Senior Vice President of Strategy in July 2015. In this role, he serves as a member of the Executive Committee. John will be responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the company, with an emphasis on the long term strategies that will ensure the ongoing profit and growth of the company. Two years after Encore took a controlling stake in Baycorp in 2015, John was appointed chief executive, adding significant value to the Australian and New Zealand business, particularly in relation to making the most of Encore’s global expertise and skills.

Before joining Encore, John worked at ZenBanx Holding Ltd where he was COO of ZenBanks USA. Prior to that, he held several positions at ING USA, including Head of Consumer Lending and Head of Customer Research and Analytics. He also served in executive positions with Bank of America and MBNA America Bank. John earned a BA in economics, with honors, from the University of California-Davis, and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Duke University.
