Mike Merle

Chief Human Resources Officer

Mike Merle is Encore Capital Group^®‘s Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, a role he has held since July 2026. In addition to this position, he also currently serves as Interim Chief Financial Officer at Midland Credit Management and head of Encore’s Treasury function. Mr. Merle leads the company’s people, culture, communications, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) functions, setting a strategic vision for human resources and organizational effectiveness.

Prior to this role, Mr. Merle led the global accounting, finance, and facilities functions across teams in the United States, India, and Costa Rica. He also previously held the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for MCM, where he oversaw human resources, facilities, and accounting. Since joining Encore in 2014, he has held leadership roles across human resources, strategy and performance, and finance, with a focus on driving collaboration, building high-performing teams, and delivering business results.

Before joining Encore, Mr. Merle worked at Tetra Tech, Inc., initially as Chief Financial Officer and Controller of an acquired firm and later at the parent company, where he led mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Merle holds a Master of Business Administration (Palmer Scholar) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and operations research, summa cum laude, from Princeton University.
